Wighton Scarecrow Festival Mayday Bank Holiday 2023. You can see more ingenious crows on our Gallery page

News

The building of our new village hall is now underway! The foundations were completed earlier this year and as you can see from the pictures below, the walls are flying up.

The only way is up!

However we still need to raise almost £100,000 to complete the project. We are approaching potential fundraisers to help towards this. BUT your help is still vital in ensuring that we meet our target.

So if you are able, please donate to our Buy a Brick campaign; and continue your much appreciated support of our fantastic community fundraising events. The first of these is the ever popular Easter egg hunt with craft stalls and other family activities on Saturday 8th April 2023. See the events section below for further details.

We expect the hall to be ready for use in Autumn 2023. If you would like to register your interest in hiring either the main hall or the smaller meeting room, please email us to let us know.

Architect's impression of the new village hall in Wighton

About

The fundraising campaign to build a new village hall for Wighton was launched in Spring 2019 and our website is updated to let you know how you can get involved and to keep you informed of our progress.

History

Our much loved village "hut" started out life as a temporary classroom at Wells school. It was transferred to Wighton in 1939 and was expected to last a maximum of twenty five years. Hard work by villagers over decades has more than tripled its life expectancy. And over its very long lifetime it has hosted countless village events.

But now it's time to build a new hall for all those living in Wighton village and beyond.

A New Village Hall for All!

Thanks to an amazing donation of £500,000 from the Trustees of the Goldcrest Charitable Trust and the generosity of those in the village and beyond who have donated, our fundraising campaign is well on the way to achieving its goal.

A great deal of hard work is still needed though to ensure that we can all enjoy a village hall that is fit for the twenty first century.

This will truly be a village hall for all...and to make it happen we need the help of everyone in the village.

Fundraising Events

Fundraising events - and the support you can give by joining in - continue to be crucial to the success of the campaign to raise the additional money for our new village hall. Many more events are in the planning stage ... so watch this space.

Upcoming Events

So this is where some of our events will be taking place from March 2022. All are welcome.
